Welcome! This is the personal website of Greg Reed. I solve problems and help make things make sense to people.
My approach
My research mainly supports decision analysis, systems engineering, visualization, education, and cognitive modeling. I have a wide and varied history in decision support, including creating user interfaces and decision support tools, helping customers make sense of their own sets of requirements, visualizing data and virtual environments, and supporting product and project planning. Modeling and Simulation (M&S) drives much of it.
I also teach and make games on the side. I make things simple and effective there, too.
Project highlights
My puzzle game Little Square Things is inspired by MS DOS-era PC games and set apart by its accessibility and simple controls. Also, its price tag.
It’s available for download for free on Steam🗗 or itch.io🗗 for PC. There’s also an Android🗗 port for squares on the go!
Tire Friend is a 3D platformer in the works.
For those of you who like rolling, bouncing, crashing into traffic cones, avoiding spiky things, and crossing finish lines, the playtest is available on Steam🗗 for free. Go try it out and tell me what you think!
Hall of Rogues🗗 is a turn-based tactical game for Android. In the Halls, you’ll control three characters from six character classes (or 30+ monster types) to try to wrest the MacGuffin of Yendor from a strange demon and escape. You can also recruit monsters along the way, leading to a huge variety of playstyles.
My dissertation research involved the creation of a Relative Ethical Violation (REV) model, a moral reasoning engine designed to help military commanders navigate ethical dilemmas in Course of Action (CoA) analysis.
